Outlook oab not updating exchange 2016

For all versions of Outlook (since 2003) you have two choices, either take Outlook out of cached mode* (so it queries the ‘live’ global address list).

Or force Outlook to download the latest version of the offline address book.

A status window will open to indicate that the download is in progress and will close automatically when the download is complete.

(This could take several minutes) Step 2: Uncheck the box next to Download changes since last Send/Receive.

In the Information to download section, select Full Details and in the Address Book section, choose \Global Address List. **NOTE** Please read this section carefully, or your update will not work!!

Step 3: The new version of the GAL will now be downloaded.

Then check the mailbox Exists (See Check for existence of mailbox sections below).

Remember, if you are looking at the Global Address List in Outlook then you are NOT looking at the Servers Global Address List*.

Firstly and fore mostly: If you do anything in Exchange: Apply the “cup of coffee rule”, never make a change then go and prove that change works straight away!

However most of us work in the real world and you have a user who needs to use this mailbox yesterday!

Outlook is helping you complete other activities and does not allow the address book update to interfere.

My computer slows down when Outlook shows the "Updating Address Book" status. In computers with slow hard disk drives, such as portable computers, or running Outlook in a Virtual machine, the process of updating the address book can slow down the computer if the hard disk is fragmented.

(This could take several minutes) Outlook shows the "Updating Address Book" status for a long time. Outlook has a throttling feature that slows the address book update when you are working in Outlook.
